BOSTON — Gov. Patrick will be sworn in to his second term in office on Thursday.
The governor won a tough reelection battle against GOP candidate Charlie Baker and Independent Timothy Cahill.
As his second term opens, the state faces a $2 billion budget gap. The governor has said he's looking to make difficult cuts.
The governor says he plans to use his second term to focus on job creation and economic growth in Massachusetts, as well as make progress on the achievement gap in education and rising health care costs. Despite speculation that he might end his term early to make a bid for senate in 2012, Patrick says he currently plans to serve a full term.
