The Search For A New Boston Symphony Orchestra Music Director

Following the resignation of James Levine, the BSO is now searching for its next Music Director. Feb. 4, 2012, marks the centennial of the birth of one of the BSO's most significant music directors. Brian Bell tells the story of Leinsdorf's appointment, the concert he was conducting at the time of JFK's assassination, and the ambitious standards he set for the BSO and himself.

The Streisand Songbook
Award-winning vocalist and songwriter Ann Hampton Callaway joins the Pops in a tribute to Barbra Streisand with songs from Funny Girl, A Star is Born, People, The Way We Were and Higher Ground, as well as works inspired by George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein, and Duke Ellington. Special appearance by lyricist and Streisand collaborator Alan Bergman.

Saturday, May 26 at 7pm, and Sunday, May 27 at 1pm

"Visions of America"
Called a Photo-Symphony, this multimedia work showcases award-winning photo-historian Joseph Sohm's images, with music by Roger Kellaway and lyrics by Alan and Marilyn Bergman combining for a sweeping portrait of American life, featuring the voice of Clint Eastwood.

Saturday, June 2 at 7pm, and Sunday, June 3 at 1pm

Film Night
Boston Pops Laureate Conductor John Williams conducts the Pops in an evening featuring his favorite blockbuster film scores over the years including Star Wars, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, and many more.

Gospel Night
Charles Floyd and the Boston Pops Gospel Choir celebrate 20 years of raising voices in praise! The concert features the greatest hits of the past two decades in Symphony Hall, with celebrity soloists including American Idol's Melinda Doolittle, Sunday's Best's Crystal Aikin, and more to be announced.

City of Champions
The Boston Pops celebrates the glorious victories of Boston’s champion teams in concert, with a special tribute to the 100th Anniversary of Fenway Park and a salute to the region's many Olympic winners.

Cole Porter Tribute
The Boston Pops, along with Broadway's golden couple, Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley, bring a selection of Cole Porter’s many hits to life, including So In Love, In the Still of the Night, and Anything Goes.

Time for Three
Inspired by legendary cinema and television classics, "The Wild West" concert features music of America's new frontier with the groundbreaking string trio Time for Three, whose mix of classical, country western, gypsy and jazz idioms to form an exciting blend all their own.
